2016 – 2017 Guest Speakers
Iain Black, President and CEO, Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, speaking on Greater Vancouver’s Economy… and the 2017 BC Election on February 28, 2017
Iain Black has lead the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade since October 2011. Over these five years the iconic 130-year-old organization has experienced a modern renaissance, with dramatic Membership growth via a rediscovered relevancy for 21st century business, government & thought leaders. Iain came to the GVBOT directly from the ranks of government, where he was elected twice into the provincial legislature and served as minister in three different cabinet posts. His history before politics, however, is all private sector. His core strengths — communication, strategy development, and operational analysis and execution — were developed over 15 years in the technology and new economy sectors through increasingly complex and high-profile CEO assignments across both publicly traded and private companies. He is married with three teenagers, and a West Highland White Terrier.
